Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist indicated for the treatment or prevention of bronchospasm. Provides short-acting (four hours) bronchodilation in reversible airway obstruction caused by asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Salbutamol can be used in patients with asthma to relieve symptoms when they occur, as well as to prevent their appearance in known triggering circumstances.

Bronchodilators should not be the only treatment in patients with persistent asthma.

In patients with persistent asthma unresponsive to VENTOLIN, treatment with inhaled corticosteroids is recommended to achieve and maintain control. Failure to respond to treatment with VENTOLIN may indicate the need for urgent medical evaluation or treatment.

VENTOLIN NEBULES is indicated for the routine management of chronic bronchospasm (unresponsive to conventional therapy) and the treatment of severe acute asthma (status asthmaticus).
